The Vivitar DF-383 Shoe Mount Flash is an economical full-TTL enabled flash with support for digital SLR cameras. It features a powerful Guide Number of 148'/45 m at 85mm, and features a power-zoom flash head that covers a focal range from 24mm to 85mm. The flash includes a built-in slave function which allows it to be positioned off-camera, and triggered by any second flash. You can also manually adjust the power level of the flash output from full-power down to 1/16th. It is the perfect economical all-purpose flash for any digital or 35mm SLR shooter. Good deal

I bought this flash after a less expensive off-brand was very cheap plastic and I had to return it. So far so good for an alternative for my Canon EOS xsi. I'm considering buying another one for my friend.

Love the flash, but never did get the tripod or cloth.

For the same price as a 270 EX II you get a much more powerful and usable flash. As noted by others the recycle time on full power is a little on the long side, but for what I use it for, it works wonderfully. For durability and longevity I will have to see. So far though I have taken it on a couple shoots with me and so far it seems to be more durable than the construction would suggest. Great starter flash before you move up to something bigger/better.The only reason I gave the product 3 stars is because it never came with the mini tripod and microfibre cloth as suggested. I didn't NEED either but it was part of what I paid for so was kind of surprised when they never showed up.

Good features at a good price.

Product was received promptly from seller and was as advertised. It would be nice to have a metal shoe instead of plastic but with the enormous price difference from the Canon product I can be a little more careful.
