Exactly what I needed

I've been around a while, and I remember when film cameras had these eye cups built onto them. At least I think I do. :)I like having a solid connection to the camera when looking through the viewfinder, and having the ambient light blocked out. This thing does just that, comfortably and flexibly. It rotates easily when I'm shooting in portrait. I use it with and without my glasses on, and it never smudges my glasses.This is a must-have accessory. If you want it farther from the camera, get the Canon Eyepiece Extender (Canon EP-EX15 Eyepiece Extender for EOS Cameras).

This product is such an improvement over the standard eyepiece that it should be included with every camera. It forms perfectly around my eye with slight pressure and seals 99% of light out of the viewfinder. I could tell right away that my 7D produced a more accurate white balance. Added bonus of completely getting my greasy face and nose off the LCD screen. Build quality is good and it looks like official Canon gear. Only complaint is the mounting process was not totally straight forward and worried me for about 10 seconds :-)

I shoot a lot of photos outside, especially on the snow. That means BRIGHT surroundings, glare and reflected light. This eye cup is the ideal solution. The flexible portion rotates, so you can shoot using either eye - handy. It extends from the camera a little more than the standard eyepiece, but it's not really an extension - it's a cup. You'll still "slime" up your LCD screen.The cup also collapses easily when stored or transported in a camera bag.
