Circular polarizing filters are made for all cameras with beam splitters in the light paths of their TTL exposure meter and with autofocus lenses. Circular polarization has the same pictorial effect as linear polarization, but allows for proper exposure metering and/or autofocus distance settings. The "high-end" polarizing foils of the Käsemann-type filters are neutral in color, they have a higher efficiency than conventional polarizing foils and they are cemented between high-grade plane-parallel optical glass. The resulting sandwich is then precision-polished again to achieve highly accurate plane-parallel surfaces. Subsequently they are edge-sealed to protect the foil against humidity. Discriminating photographers regard the B+W Käsemann-Type Polarizing Filter to be the very best of all polarizing filters. They are well suited for applications that require the highest possible imaging quality, especially with high-speed telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses.

Very nice polarizer, and good price!

I recently bought the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens and boy was finding filters that big hard! I am a big B+W fan ever since my purchase of one of their 58mm polarizers for my old lens. They've got a life long customer as long as I do photography. What I like about this filter is that there is no glare unlike those cheap filters. The darkening was even, and best of all, dust and liquids can be cleaned off this filter easily due to the coating. The other thing I love about the coating is that no fingerprints ever get on the filter! I have accidently touched this filter many times and not a trace of fingerprints were found on it. I was amazed. The polarizing effect was very good too. It darkened and saturated the skies a lot when I took landscape shots, and it filtered a lot of glare from water and white objects when I'm taking photos of those things. I don't see any vignette, but I use a Canon EOS 7D which is a crop sensor. My only complaint is that the front thread is a bit too thin, my lens cap only hooks onto it partially (about 3/4 of the way in). Shouldn't be a problem as it still feels pretty tight on the filter, but it keeps giving me the feeling the lens cap is going to fall off. I think they did this to prevent vignette so that is an up for me, lens caps are easily replaceable. So if you have a lens this big, I would recommend you get this filter! You can never go wrong with B+W, the quality and materials are top quality!Here is a list summary of the pros and cons:Pros:- Polarizing effect is great and filtering is even through out.- Does not attract any fingerprints around 95% of the time.- Easy to clean dust and liquids off.- Biggest size you can find. It's easy to downsize a filter with step up rings, but upsizing is impossible.- Front part spins easily.- I have a Canon EOS 7D (crop sensor), but so far, no vignette.Cons:- Front threads are a bit short so only 3/4 of my lens cap goes in. I don't find this to be an issue as my lens cap still grips tightly.Update 4-10-2013:Still using this with my new 5D Mark III. Took it right up to Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite National Park to take some shots of the waterfall. A lot of water got on the filter. What surprised me was that with a few puffs of air from my Giottos Rocket Air Blaster, the water just dripped off with no markings on the filter at all! That is how good this nano coating is! Definitely worth the price!

This polarizer holds up to the reputation of B+W. First off, this is a circular polarizer which is needed instead of a linear polarizer if you want to polarize while using auto focus on a digital camera. Next is lens flare. It does a pretty decent job here.. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5. Definitely better than cheaper polarizers. All right now to the real stuff. I tested to make sure this is a circular polarizer and it definitely is. Given that, this works great. I can shoot one picture and not see through a window because of reflections. I can rotate the polarizer and shoot again and see no reflections at all. It's a 5 star on its polarizing ability. As far as I can tell, the image quality is not degraded at all by this polarizer. It is like have nothing in front of your lens. It does reduce like by about 1-2 stops. Overall it works great. I am going to try it with the canon 16-35mm which is 82mm. It is supposed to work well with it without vignetting. If you can afford it, this is the one to buy. It is the best. If you cannot afford, I am sure there is cheaper that is almost as good.Update: I tried it with the 16-35mm and it works great. I noticed no vignetting which is what I expected when buying the XS-Pro model. It also seems like canon will be making more use out of the 82mm filter size by having their new 24-70 2.8l II have an 82mm filter size. So now one can buy this and one step-down ring to 77 and this would fit nicely the 16-35 2.8l, 24-70 2.8l II and the 70-200 2.8l II.

I am very impressed with the quality of the B+W 77mm XSPro Kaesemann Circular Polarizer. For its inaugural event, I took it to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, and Monument Valley. These are areas rich in "big skies", and the polarizer provided precise control over the sky/cloud richness, allowing me to create exciting enhancements. I am very happy with my purchase.
